ILLINOIS Conceal Carry License

The Illinois Conceal Carry Act is known as Public Act (430 ILCS 66) was created on July 29, 2013.   Applications for renewal or NEW IL CCW license must be made to the Illinois State Police.  The application fee is the same, $150 for a new or renewal of the Illinois Conceal Carry License.  

 

The total course cost for the IL CCW is $250 paid to the Visual Learn.

 

 

Did you know that.......

 

​A DD214 (discharge papers from military service) will also satisfy the first 8 hours.

  • DD214 qualifies you for a 50% discount on the IL CCW class but we still ask that you attend both days and take the (16) hours of training
  • Please bring for the first day of class your DD214 papers
  • A second exact copy of your DD214 papers that the instructor keeps for their record.  In the copy for the instructor please blank out, block, or black out the following fields:
    • Social Security number
    • Day, Month, Year of birth

DAY 1  ILLINOIS Conceal Carry License 


DAY 1 

 

Requirements for the IL CCW license are:

  • You will complete 8 of 16 hours required to get your IL CCW
  • You're part of a select few that get the most intensive and highly valuable training in safety offered using the safest drills and exercise from the top 2 firearms certifications in the USA
  • You meet the qualifications should you decide to go for the NRA Basic Pistol Instructor class
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Possess a valid state ID or driver’s license
  • Be allowed by both state and federal law to legally possess a firearm
  • Be able to follow all directions given by the training staff
  • Be physically capable of safely and effectively operating a firearm.
  • A valid FOID card unless in the process of getting a valid FOID card
  • $150.00 payable with a credit card or electronic check to the State of Illinois
  • At Illinois Concealed Carry Training, we will give you current actionable information from both a police and civilian perspective to keep you and your family physically, legally, financially and morally safe, in the event you have to use your weapon in self-defense or defense of another person

DAY 2 ILLINOIS Conceal Carry License 


DAY 2 is a live certification session consisting of classroom instruction, hands-on drills and live-fire exercises. The classroom instructions session covers the following topics:

 

All Applicable State and Federal Laws Relating to Ownership, Storage, Carry and Transportation of a Firearm

  •  The Act in its entirety with emphasis on the following:
    • Appropriate and lawful interaction with law enforcement while transporting or carrying a concealed firearm.
    • Instruction on prohibited areas and the parking lot exemption.
  • The FOID Act
  • Relevant portions of IL-CCW including but not limited to:
    • 720 ILCS 5/7-1. Use of force in defense of a person
    • 720 ILCS 5/7-2. Use of force in defense of a dwelling
    • 720 ILCS 5/7-3. Use of force in defense of other property
    • 720 ILCS 24/1 Unlawful use of weapons

Weapon Handling

  • Dry-fire practice drills and handgun fundamentals
  • Dry-fire practice drills from concealment
  • Live-fire practice drills and handgun fundamentals

Qualification for IL-CCW

The Illinois Concealed Carry License and IL CCW Renewal class has a live fire qualification from a distance of:

  • 10 shots at 5 yards
  • 10 shots at 7 yards 
  • 10 shots at 10 yards shooting at a  B-27 silhouette target approved by the Illinois State Police

​To pass you must shoot with at least 70% accuracy, meaning at least 21 of 30 rounds must fall within the 16" x 22" outer (7) ring of the standard B-27 target

 

Successful completion of DAY 1 and 2 will earn you the right to gain your Illinois Conceal Carry License permit.

 

States that honor the Illinois permit besides its immediate neighbors are:

  •  Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah and Vermont.

You will receive your printed Illinois Conceal Carry License certificate at the end of DAY 2 contingent on you passing the live-fire shooting qualification test.

 

You must be a US resident or a green-card holder; no felonies or active protective orders against you to attend the course.

 

NOTE: NO  AMMUNITION ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM!
