ILLINOIS Conceal Carry License


DAY I


8 hours


Applicants will be introduced to the NRA Basic Pistol course, this course fulfill (8) the required (16) hours by the ISP (Illinois State Police)

 Instructor.

 

The course cost is $125 paid to the Visual Learn organization for the NRA Basic Pistol (8 hours).

DAY II


8 hours 



The Illinois Conceal Carry Act is known as Public Act (430 ILCS 66) was created on July 29, 2013.   Applications for renewal or NEW IL CCW license must be made to the Illinois State Police.  The application fee is the same, $150 for a new or renewal of the Illinois Conceal Carry License.  

 

The course cost is $125 paid to the Visual Learn organization for the IL CCL (16 hours) course.

 

 

Did you know that.......

 

​A DD214 (discharge papers from military service) will also satisfy the first 8 hours.

  • DD214 qualifies you for a 50% discount on the IL CCW class but we still ask that you attend both days and take the (16) hours of training
  • Please bring for the first day of class your DD214 papers
  • A second exact copy of your DD214 papers that the instructor keeps for their record.  In the copy for the instructor please blank out, block, or black out the following fields:
    • Social Security number
    • Day, Month, Year of birth

DAY I NRA Basic Pistol


DAY 1 The Illinois state allows the NRA Basic Pistol course to count towards 8 of the 16 hours needed to get your Illinois Conceal Carry License (CCL) permit. 

 

The benefits of taking the NRA Basic Pistol class to fulfill 8 of the IL CCL (16) hours are class are:

  • You will get your NRA Basic Pistol certification
  • You will complete 8 of 16 hours required to get your IL CCW
  • You only have to take the final 8 hours to qualify for your IL CCW permit
  • You're part of a select few that get the most intensive and highly valuable training in safety offered in the NRA Basic Pistol class
  • You meet the qualifications should you decide to go for the NRA Basic Pistol Instructor class
  • You will be awarded two certifications the NRA Basic Pistol and the IL CCW!!

DAY II ILLINOIS Conceal Carry License 


DAY 2 is a live certification session consisting of classroom instruction, hands-on drills and live-fire exercises. The classroom instructions session covers the following topics:

 

Firearm safety (Classroom)

  • Four simple firearm handling safety rules of Home storage

  • Public Storage
  • Vehicle storage

Basic principles of marksmanship (Classroom/Range)

  • Stance

  • Grip
  • Sight Alignment
  • Sight Picture
  • Trigger Control​

Firearm Care, loading, unloading, and cleaning of a concealable firearm (Classroom)

  • Gun identification: revolver, semi-automatic, etc.

  • Ammunition identification and selection
  • Safety and cleaning steps
  • Cleaning equipment
  • Loading and unloading

The Illinois Concealed Carry License Renewal class will have a live fire qualification from a distance of:

  • 10 shots at 5 yards
  • 10 shots at 7 yards 
  • 10 shots at 10 yards shooting at a  B-27 silhouette target approved by the Illinois State Police

​To pass you must shoot with at least 70% accuracy, meaning at least 21 of 30 rounds must fall within the 16" x 22" outer (7) ring of the standard B-27 target

 

Successful completion of DAY 1 and 2 will earn you the right to gain your Illinois Conceal Carry License permit.

 

States that honor the Illinois permit besides its immediate neighbors are:

  •  Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah and Vermont.

You will receive your printed Illinois Conceal Carry License certificate at the end of DAY 2 contingent on you passing the live-fire shooting qualification test.

 

NOTE: NO  AMMUNITION ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM!
