This is a 9-hour class that is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of how to safely handle, use and shoot a handgun. This class is perfect for newbies or women with previous exposure to firearms.  This is a low-stress, fun-oriented course that instills safety, comfort, and confidence. The classroom lecture covers an assortment of topics. Students participate in "dry" drills where they learn to safely handle and use a handgun before firing live ammunition. Students shoot in an indoor range the required 30 rounds to qualify for the North Carolina concealed carry handgun license.

This is NOT A BEGINNERS CLASS.

If .........

1. You do not own a firearm

2. You have not shot a firearm in the last 2 years or more

3. You have not taken a prior basic firearms class, we strongly recommend you sign up for our Basic Pistol class before attempting to take this class.

What are the requirements?

• Must be 21 years of age or older 
  Must a US citizen or have obtained permanent residence status

• Must have a driver's license or state issue ID

• Must live in North Carolina for 30 days prior to applying for your NC concealed carry permit

• No short pants, No short sleeves allowed

• Button collar shirt must be worn

• Must wear ear AND eye protection at the shooting range

• No revolvers allowed

• We DO NOT RENT handguns - you can rent a handgun, purchase ammunition from the shooting range or bring your own

• Closed toe-shoes must be worn

We cover the following required topics by the NC Department of Justice to qualify for your concealed carry license:

• Legal Law Issues -Deadly Force (minimum 2 - 3 hours)

• Minimum 8 hours of classroom time

• We drive to the range to do your shooting qualification from 5pm - 6pm

• Shoot 30 rounds - you need 70% to pass the shooting qualification

• Handgun Fundamentals

• Handgun Safety

• Marksmanship Fundamentals

• Présentation technique

• Cleaning and Maintenance

• Ammunition

Each student receives a packet that contains the following items:

• Course Completion Certificate 

• Visual Learn student packet
